2012 Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year: LeBron James

Regardless of what went down in 2010 with his announcement to play for Miami, this is a well deserved honor for James who won his first NBA Championship Ring and grabbed a Gold Medal in the Summer Olympics.

Avery Johnson has been fired as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets (14-14)

Johnson was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October and November. Johnson led the Nets to a franchise-best 11 wins in the month of November and an 11-4 record overall, setting the mark for the best start in Nets franchise history. Brooklyn finished the month 7-1 at home and tied for the Atlantic Division lead while going 8-2 against 2011-12 playoff teams. In November, Brooklyn ranked second in the NBA in team scoring defense, holding opponents to 90.4 points per game and recorded their largest road win (107-68) in franchise history on Nov. 9 against the Orlando Magic. After 11-4 start the team went 3-10 during the last 13 games.
